These sequinned fish are a revival of an old Tunisian tradition which died out many years ago.
Newlyweds would be given a hanging like this which they would then attach to a wall, a door, or the marriage bed, and they were kept for life.
It was believed that the wall hanging would bring good fortune and would protect the family, as well as making dreams and wishes come true.
